Furnishings looked like they were picked off the street. Wallpaper curling at the seams. Walls and carpet were filthy. The hotel looked nice on the outside, but the room was disgusting. Felt like we were in a no-tell motel.

Horrible Experience with Rooms and Staff- Do not go to this hotel!

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I was in Buffalo for a concert with my family members, and while staying in the hotel, I experienced horrible service and a lack of professionalism. The rooms were horrible, we experienced no heating, no pillows within the room, the toilet didn't work, and there was a lingering smell of cannabis. The issues we experienced made us late to our concert, resulting in us losing many hours of sleep trying to deal with these problems. My other family members experienced similar issues, and one of their rooms had a door that wouldn't lock. Due to the issues, my family members and I were up until almost 2 in the morning trying to get back into our rooms. During the room issues, we had a member of staff call their manager named Danielle, who at 1:30 am, told us that all of our rooms would be refunded. However, when we went to check out the next morning, the "Manager Danielle" came in out of nowhere and began to scream at us regarding refunding our rooms and how she would not honour her word. We tried to handle the situation calmly, but she yelled at us and threatened to call the police. We were simply trying to understand why the rooms were no longer being refunded, considering Danielle authorized them the previous day. Eventually, Ryan (the front desk clerk) told us they would honour the refund that was previously promised to us, so we left the hotel under the presumption that no charges would be placed. However, when leaving the hotel and heading back to Canada, I checked my credit card statement and saw that the hotel had charged me without my permission (and at an extreme rate- I was charged for three rooms when I only stayed in one) I took outside action but wanted to share this with future travellers to avoid this hotel at all costs. When calling back to figure out the situation, they proceeded to put the blame back on me and my family and berate me for actions that were not my own. They claimed that the authorization to charge the card (5 hours after I left the hotel by Danielle) came with staying at the hotel but I signed nothing. When trying to discuss this professionally resulted in me getting yelled at and hung up on. The staff there appear to have a power trip for their customers. They don't care about customer experience and continually try to make excuses for poor services by blaming the consumer. It's honestly so disappointing to have such a bad experience with this hotel when we have been planning this trip for months. When in Buffalo, do not stay at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.

Avoid at all Costs

Absolute nightmare, avoid at all possible cost. Booked 3 rooms and issues with all 3 rooms. Locks don't work, toilets broken, no heat, weed smell throughout hotel. Currently have fraud investigations open with credit card companies due to double & triple charges on all 3 credit cards provided at check in. "Acting" General manager Danielle needs a refresher course on customer service. Yelling, screaming and threatening to call the police on guests who did nothing wrong but choose this hotel is disgusting. Then hiding in the office? Having the other staff defend us and make apologies for her behaviour tells you something. Stood with 2 other guests with similar complaints. Worst hotel experience of my life. Was told new owners were taking over..please strongly consider your "acting" management when you do. Have many friends and family who travel and will definitely be sharing this experience on all social media platforms and have already issued a case complaint with Wyndham management. Just horrific

Stayed in room 132 or 134 I forget, but bed was HORRIBLE and the pillows. Room was spacious and was nice to have a fridge and freezer, however cleanliness was less than adequate. There was dental floss sticks under the end table, room smelt mildewy. The smell of people cooking curry was too much, the room was full of that smell at random hours throughout the stay. If you intend to sleep, this will not be the place. Room above us sounded like they were throwing people into walls, toddlers running hallways, and the parents being loud. Would never stay again

I recently had the misfortune of staying at The Hawthorne in Williamsville, NY. The hotel appeared rundown and poorly maintained, with worn-out furniture and unpleasant odors permeating the hallways, reminiscent of curry. Loud music, apparent drug use (marijuana smoke), and disturbing sounds of sexual activity disrupted any semblance of comfort or relaxation. What was most disappointing was the apparent lack of concern or action taken by hotel management to address these issues. In summary, my experience at The Hawthorne by Wyndham was disheartening and far from the standard of quality expected from a Wyndham property. I strongly advise potential guests to reconsider staying here until significant improvements are made in both property maintenance and guest relations.
